A few of you might remember before blogs. I used to have a newsletter with different sections. One of my favorite things to write each month was a Fun Food Fact like this one:
Fresh turmeric looks a lot like ginger. You might want to use gloves when peeling it or be very careful when tossing it into your food in its powdered form, because it’s bright yellow color makes for a wonderful dye. It’s worth the stains though for how incredible this little powerhouse is. In a recent study even eating turmeric occasionally showed significant improvement of cognitive function in elderly participants, showing it to be a preventative for forgetfulness. It also strengthens the immune system, helps to dissolve tumors and cysts of the uterus and gall bladder, it’s antibacterial, helps regulate blood sugar as well as digestion. You can even reduce canker sores and cold sores using it topically. And a little goes a long way.
